Well that was fast! Granted, this is Sonic the Hedgehog we’re talking about, but still! Just several days ago, a poll was conducted on the official Sonic the Hedgehog twitter to see if there is demand for a collector’s edition of the hotly anticipated labor of love, Sonic Mania. 29% voted “Yes”, 17% voted “No”, and 54% voted “SHUT UP AND TAKE MY RINGS“. SEGA must have been waiting for that reaction, because they now announced that the Sonic Mania Collector’s Edition will in fact exist. Anyone (in North America, anyway) can pre-order it right now.
This superb-looking package can be pre-ordered for $69.99, and comes with a deluxe collector’s box, a statue resembling Sonic and the original model for the Sega Genesis, a display cartridge with a golden ring, and a metallic card that has the download key for Sonic Mania itself. Sonic Mania will be coming to the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and Steam sometime in Spring 2017. It’s not the only Sonic game to be arriving next year, but since it’s being made by the same people that handled the amazing smartphone/tablet recreations of Sonic‘s greatest installments, it will definitely be the game fans are looking forward to the most.
