It’s the start of the new year and the start of a new list full of rumors. Today on the video game forum Reset Era a user by the name of Klobrille(Ken Lob fanatic?) has posted that an ominous list hinting at in development titles for the Xbox One.
First up is a new game set in the world of Albion, which we all know is Fable. According to the post, the game will be handled by a UK studio which should be an adequate handover of the franchise after the closure of Lionhead Studios. Next up is a new Perfect Dark game. The developer(s) behind this title will be The Coalition and an unknown outside studio. It seems as though when it comes to the new title it will be third person focused which is the style of Gears of War gameplay. It wouldn’t be to hard to imagine the Coalition is helping another studio make a stealth action game, their first title reveal when they were known as Black Tusk studios was eerily similar looking to a Perfect Dark type of game.
Coming in third is an updated look at Crackdown 3’s progression. The new improvement since we last saw the title is a 4 player co-op campaign. The first two games featured multiplayer co-op gameplay so it’s not hard to imagine the same coming to Crackdown 3 in a larger fashion.
Forza fans shouldn’t feel left out, the setting for a new Horizon game is also mentioned on the list. The new title is said to be taking place in the land of the Rising Sun which only mean Japan. Many thought Forza Horizon 3 would take place in Japan but of course that didn’t happen but the rumor has persisted since. Age of Empire’s is also name dropped but as we saw during its reveal, the game is still early in development.
There was also a hint at Halo having a big multiplayer update. Perhaps a Warzone rework to better match today’s Battle Royal genre. It could also very well be a game similar to Destiny with a shared world aspect. It is Phil Spencer’s favorite game after all.
Lastly a new mech game was name dropped. Could it be a new MechAssault? More than likely it’s a port of the new MechWarrior 5 that will be announced for Xbox One. It’s currently being developed by Piranha Games with Microsoft owning the IP. Maybe Microsoft has finally decided to have all of its IP’s have an Xbox version as well?
Whether or not these are actual leaks or just educated guesses are unknown but the user does have a history of “leaking” Xbox content. A year ago the same user leaked another list on the Xbox Subreddit. The leaker may very well have some insights on what’s going on behind the scenes over at Xbox. Check out his full post below.
I would love to revisit Albion. Project name could be Wisdom. An UK Studio should do it.
I would love to play around with Ms. Dark again. The Coalition should definitely help if it’s a 3rd person game. I mean … Not them alone obviously.
I would also love to play the Crackdown 3 campaign in 4-player coop.
I would love playing Forza with the rising sun on the Horizon.
I would love to play AoE4 soon … But it‘s probably super early.
I would love to have a really high player-count (connections per session) for Xbox biggest franchise.
Oh and I think I‘m sure Phil likes Mechs.
I‘m sure they have things I have no fucking clue about what they mean.
I doubt I get anything for Conker, Banjo or Crimson Skies in the foreseeable future.
Make out of that what you want. I don’t know what is just a prototype etc. I would definitely love to see those things happening though.
Remember that these are just rumors at the moment. So please just enjoy the thought of these new games while we all truly just hope that these rumors come true.
