Next Big Assassin’s Creed Title Due Out in 2017, Set in Egypt

The Assassin’s Creed series has received annual releases every year now but we will be seeing the next big installment in the series in 2017. The next big Assassin’s Creed is under the codename of “Empire” and looks to be set in Egypt according to Kotaku.

After the disappointing Assassin’s Creed Unity, it seems Ubisoft is allowing more development time to polish and refine the game to be in the best possible shape for release. Unity’s release back in 2014 was plagued by bugs and glitches which gave the title a bad reputation. Ubisoft believes Assassin’s Creed Syndicate sales may have been impacted in a negative way because of Unity’s disappointment.

Ubisoft is considering making a two-year development cycle the norm for Assassin’s Creed titles due to Unity’s disappointment and possible series fatigue after having a new major Assassin’s Creed title out every year. Posts from 4Chan’s video game boards from a supposed Ubisoft developer earlier today revealed the first details about the new Assassin’s Creed title, along with sources speaking directly to Kotaku.

Empire seems to be set in Egypt although earlier rumors were that the next Assassin’s Creed would be set in ancient Rome. There are also rumors that the new character being introduced may see his own trilogy similar to the earlier titles. More details about Empire will most likely be revealed in 2016.

Although the major Assassin’s Creed titles will most likely see a two-year development cycle this will not affect the release of the two Assassin’s Creed Chronicles games due out in January and February. December will also see the release of the Assassin’s Creed movie starring Michael Fassbender.
