San Diego Comic Con is currently in full swing and with it come a flurry of comic book related video games. This time around Marvel and Capcom have brought Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite to the conventions with a bevy of new characters. Spider-Man, Frank West, Haggar and Nemesis have joined the ever growing roster.
All four characters have similar move sets to those of their Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 counterparts with a couple new moves to spice things up.
Spider-Man had a new move called ‘Spider Cannon’ in which he launches himself at the opponent; this seems like it’ll mainly be used as a combo extender, something the character has lacked outside of his webs in previous games. He also has a new Level 3 super in which several of the Green Goblin’s pumpkin bombs are thrown at Spidey, only for Spidey to dodge them and the bombs to hit the opponent.
Dead Rising’s Frank West has a new charge move that hits the opponent with a series of headbutts as he wears a Servbot mask. Frank’s leveling mechanic from the previous game returns, Frank will be able to take pictures of his combos to level up and gain new weapons. You can do this with your own camera much like in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3; but Frank can now place down a Tripod that will take pictures in the middle of his combos. This should really improve Frank as he won’t have to stop combos to level up now.
The Mayor of Metro City, Mike Haggar, also returns. Haggar seems largely unchanged but he now has access to a barrel projectile. However, the barrel can be knocked out of his hands or the air. If the barrel is destroyed it will drop an Apple that Haggar can eat to regain health.
As of now, Nemesis seems the most unchanged out of these characters. The lumbering monster uses his armored attacks to chase down opponents.
Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite is launching September 19 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
