It’s time to hone your knowledge of football and pit your predictions against somebody who just might know more about the sport than you do. Of course, the term “somebody” is used very loosely here as she doesn’t really exist in the real world. Still, Cortana has access to an algorithm from Bing Predicts and she has provided her predictions for every NFL game played in week one of this season. The algorithm reportedly takes factors into account such as home field advantage and possibly even information gleaned from social media platforms such as Facebook.
Before you rush off to bet against Cortana though, it should be pointed out that last year she accurately called the results of over two-thirds of every NFL game. Her record for predicting the outcomes of competitive events ranging from Wimbledon to American Idol is said to be even more accurate but fortunately for us Cortana will be sticking to professional football games this year. It might be fun to track Cortana’s pedictions against Las Vegas betting odds throughout the season and we plan to track her progress over the next sixteen weeks.
