Sonic the Hedgehog takes over the box office for second weekend

This weekend Sonic the Hedgehog took the top spot for a second weekend. The movie almost didn’t take the top spot with The Call of the Wild biting at its heels. Sonic grossed an estimated $26.3 million this weekend. Currently, the movie is sitting at $203 million worldwide.

The Call of the Wild came in second place with an estimated $24.8 million in its first weekend. Jason actually had the time and reviewed the movie. You can see the review by clicking the link here. The other movie, Brahms: The Boy II grossed an estimated $5.9 million. It couldn’t topple Birds of Prey as that movie added $7 million to its worldwide total, as it sits at $173 million. It seems that Birds of Prey will not be grossing more than $200 million in its theatrical run. This is a big hit to DC who had high hopes for this movie.

Weekend Top Three

3. Birds of Prey $7 million

2. The Call of the Wild $24.8 million

1. Sonic the Hedgehog $26.3 million

Next weekend The Invisible Man will be released. This is the only movie that will be released in a wide number of theaters. Sonic the Hedgehog could easily take over the top spot next weekend. This new horror movie could take a dive at the box office, I hope that this new version of the classic horror icon will do great. March is going to be a great start for the Spring season, the movies that are coming out include some great-looking movies. I’ll talk about those next weekend when I recap the box office.
