This news have been know since Niantic announced that they would be reworking the gym system on Pokemon Go. We now have the actual date on when player won’t be able to access a gym.
In preparation for some exciting new features, we’ll be temporarily disabling Gyms starting June 19. Stay tuned for more information.

This news will be disappointing to some players that have been relying on the gyms to give them those coins with out spending money on the game. As you can read above in the Tweet we don’t have time frame as to when gyms will be working again. I bet you could expect it around the anniversary for the game.
Currently players can enjoy the Solstice event that gives players a better chance at catching either Fire and Ice Pokemon. This even ends on June 20th so don’t forget to keep playing. Once we have any word on the new gym mechanics and a date of them coming back I will be posting it here for you.
