The latest NPD Numbers have been released and they’re showing some good improvement for the Xbox brand. Microsoft noted that the Xbox One sold 51% more than a year ago in June. During the week of E3, the green console was the best selling device and that’s not surprising since Microsoft won E3 based on viewer numbers and social media interaction. The Xbox brand launched to pretty negative press and it’s heartwarming to see the console jump in sales every month since then. Last month Microsoft boasted a total of 79% increase in sales.
When it comes to games, Batman won June. The new game topped the sales charts across the board and if console bundles are included in the sales of the game, NPD noted that it is officially the best selling game this generation. It joins games like The Witcher 3 which sold upwards of 4 Million units and Halo Master Chief Collection which raked in just below 5 Million in sales, and PC didn’t really help in those sales since they still haven’t received a working version of the game. Elder Scrolls took the second spot which is surprising for an online only game.

Xbox Live also saw a healthy increase. Microsoft boasted that it jumped by 22% in paid customers in the month of June. Xbox Live is still the number one place to play for online console gamers based on these numbers. This month Microsoft also started giving away AAA titles with Games with Gold, which included Assassins Creed Black Flag.
Microsoft’s jump in numbers are impressive, and Backwards Compatibility will help them in gaining more momentum at the register. This holiday also sees Microsoft releasing games like Halo 5, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Forza Motorsport 6, Gears of War Ultimate, Fable Legends and more. It starts with Rare Replay in August, which topped sales charts in the UK.
