The Surface Pro 3 just might be the most gorgeous hardware that Microsoft has ever released. However, it was announced way back in May of 2014 and released the following month. With the Windows 10 launch right around the corner it seems to be the perfect time for a new Surface Pro and rumor has it that it will be coming in the fall. Apparently several of Microsoft’s partners in the supply chain have been notified to begin shipping components for the new device in September and the suppliers estimate a release date some time in October. This recent rumor follows another which suggests Microsoft places a large order with Samsung for shipments of solid state hard drives.
With the launch of Windows 10 which includes the Direct X 12 API and full integration of Xbox Live, many gamers are speculating about a new Surface Pro’s viability as a gaming device. The fact that some Xbox One titles such as Killer Instinct are coming to Windows 10 make a device that could double as a portable Xbox game player very attractive.
The Surface Pro 4 is said to be the same size as its predecessor which has a 12 inch screen. Apple is rumored to be working on an iPad Pro with a screen as large as 12.9 inches.Other rumors suggest the next Surface Pro could retain the 2160 x 1440 screen and might possibly use Intel’s Skylake processors. All of this won’t come cheap though; remember that the entry price for a Surface Pro 3 was $799.
As with all internet rumors, it is best to take these tidbits with a grain of salt. As of this writing Microsoft has not even confirmed that they are even working on a new Surface Pro. Check back with TiCGN and we’ll let you know when and if Microsoft announces a new entry in the Surface family.
