As a big fan of The LEGO Movie, I was more than pleasantly surprised to see the trailers for a psuedo-sequel entirely centered around Batman. For those few that haven’t had a taste of cinema’s best version of the Caped Crusader, you can watch one of its hilarious trailers below.
I’m not only looking forward to the film, but also hoping there’ll be a licensed game based on the film. It’s the only natural thing that can happen. After all, studio Traveler’s Tales got to release a game for The LEGO Movie and have created a few games featuring a LEGO Batman already. Combining the two ideas together would make for a particularly delightful entry in the long-running LEGO game series – Much like The LEGO Movie Videogame was!
While there already are three LEGO Batman games, the difference between the series’ Batman and this movie’s is night and day. It wouldn’t feel redundant for The LEGO Batman Movie Videogame to exist since it’s very much taking up an identity of its own instead of relying on the more standard Saturday morning cartoon vibe the existing LEGO Batman games utilize. Not to mention, thanks to the release of LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, there are now four LEGO Star Wars games (not counting The Complete Saga). So if they’re fine having four Star Wars games, there can be four Batman games.
If Warner Bros. and Traveler’s Tales could make a tie-in game for The LEGO Batman Movie, I know I for one would pick it up.
