During last night’s Writers Guild Awards, the latest game from Crystal Dynamics went home with the Best Writing Award for it’s story in Rise of the Tomb Raider. The game launched in November on Xbox One to much fanfare, and quickly became the defacto Game of the Year for many gamers who experienced it. It also managed to sell ‘well over 1 Million units in the month it was on Xbox One’, and estimates on Steam place it at over 400k copies during the first few weeks.
The game managed to beat out The Witcher 3, Assassins Creed Syndicate and Pillars of Eternity.
Credits for the story goes to:
- Lead narrative designer: John Stafford
- Narrative designer: Cameron Suey
- Lead writer: Rhianna Pratchett
- Additional writer: Philip Gelatt
Rise of the Tomb Raider is currently only available on Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows 10.
