It has been reported that the map for Red Dead Redemption 2, the long-rumored sequel to the first Red Dead Redemption, has been leaked online.
The map was first posted on NeoGaf before it being quickly taken down. As you can see, that did not help as there are copies of the image all over the internet. An independent source source as confirmed to Techradar that the map is “indeed the real deal” and it’s a “very recent” art direction map for the upcoming sequel.
It has also been mentioned that the game will be set before the events of the first Red Dead Redemption game and the map is just east of the map in that game.
Here is the image:
By the looks of it, it does seem to be trustworthy enough. By taking a close look at the map, you can see locations on the map that were in the first game. For example, the Great Plains with Black Water. This version of the Great Plains have a lack of railroads. The lack of railroads support the fact that this is being set before the first Redemption game. There are also caravan camps scattered around on the map, as well as the inclusion of New Bordeaux – which is on the bottom right. New Bordeaux is the fictional location set in New Orleans for the upcoming title Mafia 3, which is also being released by Take Two so it will be interesting to see if there are any crossovers.
Hopefully, Rockstar is able to comment on it very soon and we will be able to update you.
