It is no secret that the Phantom Dust remake for Xbox One has endured a complicated development history. The game’s production was temporarily halted last year when Microsoft abruptly cut ties with the developer, Darkside Games. While Microsoft insisted that Phantom Dust was not canceled, we have received no status updates or even word of which studio would pick up the reigns and complete the game.
Microsoft remains as tight-lipped as ever but a listing for Phantom Dust has recently appeared on Amazon UK.
No release date is mentioned on the listing but it does give a price of £64.99 (approximately $95 USD as of this writing.) That is very expensive when compared to the prices of other upcoming Xbox One games such as Recore, ScaleBound or Quantum Break.
It is possible that this particular price will be for a limited edition version of the game or as part of a bundle. The box art is a direct copy of the original game’s cover down to the Majesco logo and ESRB rating.
Somebody literally inserted the original cover into the Xbox One template. Our impressions are that Phantom Dust will get a physical release and this price reflects some sort of premium content such as an epic level character pack. We will have more details about Phantom Dust as they become available so be sure to keep visiting TiCGN.
