Yesterday we reported that Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (not Lost Kingdom) has passed the $500 million worldwide mark. It turns out that after this weekend’s estimated totals the movie has now actually passed $700 million in ticket sales and is on its way to easily cross the $1 billion mark.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdoms has grossed $150 million during its domestic opening weekend. It didn’t do as well as Incredibles 2 did last weekend but this movie is already way ahead of the animated sequel in terms of worldwide sales. Since no other movie was released against the Jurassic World sequel it wasn’t hard to make a killing this weekend. Incredibles 2 grossed a decent $80 million this weekend, down $100 million from last weekend. That movie is sitting at $485 million worldwide.
Weekend Top Five
5. Deadpool 2 $5.2 million
4. Tag $8.2 million
3. Ocean’s 8 $11.6 million
2. Incredibles 2: $80.9 million
1. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom $150 million
Two movies will be coming out next weekend. Neither of these movies will be able to top either Jurassic World 2 or Incredibles 2. Sicario 2 and Uncle Drew will be releasing in less than 3,000 theaters so expect these two movies to dominate until Ant-Man and the Wasp comes out on July 6th.
