It seems a Fallout has come between Sony and Bethesda as the studio has no confirmed mods are no longer coming to the PS4. According to Bethesda, Sony has rejected Bethesda’s proposal at supporting mods in both Fallout 4 and Skyrim Special Edition. The news comes as Bethesda spent several months working on the mod support for the PS4 and trying to come to an agreement with Sony on how they could deliver mods. Unfortunately for gamers, that hard work will see no reward as the project has been shelved with no resolution in sight.
“Sony has informed us they will not approve user mods the way they should work: where users can do anything they want for either Fallout 4 or Skyrim Special Edition.”
The news comes as a shock considering that the Xbox One has had mod support for several months now for Fallout 4 and soon Skyrim Special Edition. The issue can’t be on Bethesda’s side seeing as how they were able to get the mod support working on the weaker Xbox hardware. Sony must not like certain functions of the mod support in order to not allow it to work as it should.
