More and more consumers are buying their games digitally according to a recent report from Electronic Arts. In fact, digital games made up 40% of the company’s total unit sales on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One over the 12 months – up from 34% the previous year. Keep in mind that this figure only counts games that had both a physical version as well as a digital release. Games that were only released digitally do not count.
Electronic Arts typically lags behind other game publishers when it comes to digital game sales because of the popularity of titles like FIFA in countries with underdeveloped internet infrastructure.
