Yesterday, Lionsgate announced plans to create a film based on the popular Borderlands franchise. The project will be overseen by producers Avi and Ari Arad. They have previously been involved with the Spider-Man franchise as well as those of Ghost Rider, X-Men, Blade and Punisher.
Arad resigned as head of Marvel Studios in 2006 and formed his own company Arad Productions. Planned adaptations from them in the future include Ghost in the Shell (starring Scarlett Johansson), Metal Gear Solid, Mass Effect, Uncharted and inFAMOUS. Lionsgate are currently the holders of almost every teen film franchise you can think of. Hunger Games, Twilight and Divergent, all of which belong to Lionsgate Studios.
