As an avid Dead by Daylight player, I’m always excited for new content. So when I heard the newest chapter of the game was going to be Stranger Things themed? I was ecstatic. I’ve been a fan of the show since it first came out, so the newest addition combines one of my favorite games and one of my favorite shows.
For those of you unfamiliar with either the show or the movie, let me briefly explain. Dead by Daylight is a 1 vs 4 horror survival game. One player takes on the role of a monster trying to hunt down the other four who are survivors. The survivors are trying to escape a closed map and survive. Stranger Things is the cult sci-fi horror TV show that premiered on Netflix in 2016. It follows the adventures of a group of kids, teens, and adults after a boy goes missing due to an otherworldly monster.
Yesterday, we got a look into what the new Stranger Things content brings to the game. Dead by Daylight‘s official Youtube posted a new video that let us preview the new map, killer, and survivors.
The Underground Complex
The Stranger Things expansion’s new map is called The Underground Complex. For those that have watched the show, the map will seem familiar – but not too familiar. It’s an underground research facility that resembles plenty of the locations on the show but is not an exact copy. The trailer calls it a place where inhumane experiments were conducted and scientists connected to another world.
You can see evidence of this other world throughout the map, as well as the havoc the creatures that escaped from it caused. There are the bodies of dead scientists, destroyed lab equipment, and portals that rip through to the Upside Down (the other world).
The Demogorgon
Probably unsurprisingly, the new Dead by Daylight killer for this expansion is the Demogorgon. The Demogorgon was the monster in Stranger Things‘ original season and is probably the most iconic of all that have shown up so far. In the game, the Demogorgon sports sharp teeth, long claws, and a powerful leap to help it hunt down foes. It also comes with new powers and abilities.
The new power is called Of The Abyss and lets the killer teleport around the map. Unlike killers such as The Nurse who can warp on their own, the Demogorgon does so using portals. They begin each match with a set number of portals that they can set up on any flat floor surface that they please and can use throughout the game. On top of that, the Demogorgon can also charge up a deadly pounce.
The Stranger Things killer also comes with three new perks. When the Demogorgon downs a player, nearby generators Surge and regress in progress. When survivors fix a generator, the Cruel Limits perk makes windows unusable as an escape route for a short time. The last perk is Mindbreaker which mentally and physically exhausts survivors while they repair generators.
New Survivors
The Stranger Things pack for Dead by Daylight comes with not one, but two new survivors: Nancy Wheeler and Steve Harrington. Both of these characters are favorites from the show. And unfortunately for them, the Entity captured both of them to bring them into the game.
Nancy and Steve both bring three new perks to the game. Nancy’s are Better Together, Fixated, and Inner Strength. Steve’s are Babysitter, Camaraderie, and Second Wind. All of their perks have several parts to them, so if you’d like to learn more you can check out the trailer below.
