Founded in March 2003, Avalanche Studios is a Swedish developer primarily known for their work on the Just Cause series. They also developed the 2015 title Mad Max, which was their first AAA game outside of Just Cause. They are also co-developing Rage 2 with Id Software. In an announcement today, we learned that Avalanche Studios Co-founder Christofer Sundberg is leaving the company. He will be stepping down sometime in April 2019.
Christofer Sundberg announced that he was leaving via Twitter:Â
I just announced to the team here at #AvalancheStudios that I will be leaving the company at the end of April. The studio I founded in my kitchen, built, ran and loved for 16 years, working together with fantastic individuals and teams.

Christofer served as the Chief Creative Officer for the company since its founding. It’s interesting to see Christofer leaving the company he helped to found. We wish him the best wherever he goes next. It’ll also be interesting to see who next takes over the helm. Linus Blomberg, the other Co-founder of Avalanche Studios, is remaining with the company.
Last year, Avalanche Studios was acquired by Nordisk Film, a media group. Avalanche Studios has three different development studios in three distinct locations: Stockholm, Sweden; New York, USA and Malmö, Sweden. Their most recent game, Just Cause 4, released in December 2018. Their next game up is Rage 2, which is being published by Bethesda Softworks and will release on May 14th, 2019.
