Earlier this week, we learned that some PlayStation 4 owners were receiving messages that were causing their consoles to crash. We reported on this issue a few days ago with a few suggestions on how to fix the problem. In a tweet from the official PlayStation Twitter account, it appears that the problem has been laid to rest and PlayStation owners can rest easy when it comes to this issue.
We've since fixed the issue, and it wasn't bricking consoles, just sending them into a crash loop that can be quickly fixed in under 5 minutes. Delete the message on the PS mobile app, go into Safe Mode, use Option 5, console back to normal. ^DB

PlayStation support was quick to resolve the message incident, and the risk of receiving these messages now should be very low. However, it may still be smart to keep your messages set to friends only for a little bit longer just in case. If your console bricked or had any other issues because of the malicious message incident, follow the steps listed and it should fix the problem. If not, contact PlayStation tech support, which has been very responsive and helpful in walking people through the steps and getting PlayStation 4’s back to normal.
