Electronic Arts is hiring for a new open world game set in the Star Wars universe according to a recent job listing. The open position is for a Lead Online Engineer to work at EA’s Burnaby location. That happens to be the same location that houses EA Vancouver. The position is described as leading a developer team “to deliver Online features for a Star Wars Open World project.”
While we do not know much about this new Star Wars game, it will be a multi-platform title and offer features such as, “Matchmaking, Asynchronous interactions, Live services, Server-host migration, etc.”
EA shut down another studio – Visceral Games – while they were working on a story-based game set in the Star Wars universe. That game was canceled and is probably not related to the title that EA Vancouver is working on.
My personal guess is that EA is working on a service type game along the lines of The Division or Sea of Thieves. What kind of game do you think EA Vancouver is making?
