The Witcher Series Has Crossed 33 Million Units Sold

CD Projekt (the parent company for CD Projekt Red) revealed their 2017 financial report earlier today. In it, Piotr Nielubowicz, a member of the board, confirmed quite a few interesting things, such as some details on Cyberpunk 2077. He also revealed that The Witcher series has crossed 33 million units sold, mainly driven by the incredible success of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. During CD Projekt’s 2016 financial report, they had confirmed that over 20 million copies of The Witcher games had been sold, meaning roughly 13 million units have been sold in a year’s time.

Here’s the CD Projekt 2017 financial report highlights:

Do note, the video is in Polish, so you may need subtitles enabled.

There’s some interesting information provided on that statistic, as Piotr Nielubowicz explains that 2017 sales actually topped the previous year’s numbers. While The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt provided the bulk of the sales, the previous installments are still selling as well. Sales are also expected to get a boost thanks to the recent PS4 Pro and Xbox One X patches.

This is great news to hear, as The Witcher series is one close to my heart. Combined with news of CD Projekt Red’s new WrocÅ‚aw studio, I’m extremely excited to see what we’ll learn of Cyberpunk 2077 later this year.
