Brian Horton of Crystal Dynamics has left his position as game director to join Call of Duty studio Infinity Ward as art director. Horton was the art director for the 2013 reboot Tomb Raider before coming game director for Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Horton wrote in a Tumblr post, “It’s been a huge honor to be a part of the Tomb Raider franchise and the team at Crystal Dynamics,” shared Horton. “I’ve met fans from all over the world, both in person and online, to share in our love for the franchise and Lara Croft. After working on two amazing games, my family and I have decided to return to Southern California and start a new adventure. As sad as I am to leave the team at Crystal, I’m excited to play their future games as a fan. Thanks again for the years of support and feedback and I hope to stay in touch with you all online.”
Horton first started his career working on Gargoyles for the SNES and Genesis. He also worked on the first Medal of Honor, Silent Hill Homecoming, and F.E.A.R. 3. With Horton’s impressive resume it will be interesting to see what he can do with the Call of Duty franchise. Infinity Ward has been working on the next Call of Duty and it’s expected to release sometime this year.
