Ruh roh! Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc. gang are about to get their selves tangled into an all-new mystery as they join the cast of Lego Dimensions. A new trailer was released officially showing off Scooby and his friends in action, the trailer even starts off with a new animated segment featuring Scooby and Shaggy.
The Scooby-Doo characters and levels will come included in the Scooby-Doo Team Pack which includes Lego Minifigures of Scooby and Shaggy as well as a Lego version of the Mystery Machine and a Lego Scooby Snack. Scooby-Doo and Shaggy each have their own abilities and the Mystery Machine and Scooby Snack can be physically built and then rebuilt twice for a total of three different objects that do entirely different things in the actual game for a variety of gameplay options. Either character can also unlock the Scooby-Doo Adventure World, an open-world environment which provides additional open world gameplay content separate from the game’s main story which allows players to explore iconic Scooby-Doo locations, race, solve puzzles, and more. It seems that Daphne, Velma and Fred will also be playable within the game, but won’t have their own mini-figures.
This is Scooby-Doo’s first appearance in a Lego video game and he joins just in-time to be apart of perhaps the craziest crossover gaming, if not the world, has ever seen. Scooby and his friends are accompanied by characters from the DC Universe, Lord of the Rings, The Lego Movie, Portal, Doctor Who, Back to the Future and even The Simpsons. So yes, you can have Scooby-Doo drive the Batmobile while chasing Marty McFly in Springfield.
Lego Dimensions is the next in a new trend of games that combine toys and video games together. It begins with a starter pack that follow Batman, Gandalf & The Lego Movie‘s Wyldstyle as they try to save the multiverse. Then there are several separate packs that follow characters from various franchises such as this Scooby-Doo oriented pack.
Lego Dimensions is set to come out on September 27th on Xbox One and Xbox 360
