Dave Jones, the Crackdown series creator has reportedly left his position in the development team for Crackdown 3. As per an article from Polygon, Jones left his position on the development team earlier this spring. The cause appears to be in connection to Epic Games purchasing Cloudgine, Cloudgine was the company behind the huge cloud-based destruction that was originally promised back in 2014. Cloudgine was purchased earlier this year by Epic Games, Dave Jones founded Cloudgine back in 2012. Dave Jones has now assumed a new role within Epic Games as director of cloud and eSports.
As of right now, it is not clear what this will mean for Crackdown 3 and its promised cloud-based destruction. As announced at E3, Crackdown 3 is set to release on February 22nd, 2019. Hopefully, we will see more of the game at Gamescom later this year to help squash a lot of the rumors flying around about the state of Crackdown 3.
