Video game movies just can’t seem to get things right. Warcraft, which is scheduled to release next year, has come into the press spot light once again as it is apparently seen as a ‘problem movie’ by distributer Universal. The film, which is being produced by Legendary, has been delayed numerous times and at one point it was unclear whether the movie would happen at all.
In a recent report concerning rumblings between Legendary, Warner Bros. and Universal, it came to light that Warcraft‘s distributer Universal have major reservations, that could be linked to multiple rumours including over-involvement from property owners Blizzard or the movie’s now ballooning budget. Sam Raimi was the second director attached the project however he departed after Blizzard reportedly insisted on trashing his script (co-written with Robert Rodat).
The film’s current director Duncan Jones tweeted out a response to the news late yesterday night.
@CLAWX I wouldn't worry about that. Universal moved us to the same date as Jurassic World, so we must have done something right!
