TiC Interview With Graeme Boyd: Xbox One Sees Growth In A Sony Stronghold

Earlier this summer when asked if there would be an Xbox press conference at Gamescom this year, Phil Spencer responded that the Xbox One has work to do in Europe. Ever since the fall of Sega the European market has been a stronghold for Sony consoles but the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One have managed to find their way into the hearts of gamers over there. While the PlayStation brand still dominates in Europe the Xbox brand has seen growth according to Graema Boyd, otherwise known as Acey Bongos in a recent interview with The Inner Circle.

“It’s phenomenal and the sheer number of exclusives that we’re putting out this year and into next year as well, you line it up with the competition and there’s not really much of a discussion there.”

Boyd was very candid about the struggles of the Xbox One launch period but believes that the fan feedback and the work of the Xbox team to improve the system has put the console on a “much better road” to appealing to a gamer in Europe. He is especially proud of the Xbox One’s “incredible” exclusive game lineup this year and in 2016. “From a purely gaming point of view you can’t really argue with that lineup. It’s phenomenal and the sheer number of exclusives that we’re putting out this year and into next year as well, you line it up with the competition and there’s not really much of a discussion there.”

While Boyd is very pleased with the Xbox One’s prospects in Europe, he stresses that the team is not finished and fan feedback is still very important. “We’re listening to you guys, we want to listen to you more,’ he says during the interview. Boyd believes that with the launch of Windows 10, Microsoft’s upcoming game releases and showing how the cloud can benefit games like Crackdown 3 the Xbox team is in a much stronger position to demonstrate the appeal of the Xbox One.
