Splatoon 2 Story Mode Trailer

Nintendo has uploaded a trailer providing a look at Splatoon 2’s single player campaign. This trailer opens with what seems to be the first minute of the game. The introduction then ends on a pun–which sets the tone for the story–before showing off a gameplay montage.

To get a better understanding of the game’s premise, it is recommended that you read the Squid Sisters Stories. We recently ran an article on these.

In this montage, we see that the core mechanics remain unchanged. There is still plenty of platforming mixed in with the third person shooter combat. It also looks as though players are free to bring a variety of weapons into this mode, unlike the first game. There are new obstacles and enemies on display as well. This video also gives us a chance to hear some of the game’s music, which seems to retain the bizarre yet infectious sound of the original.

Splatoon 2 will have its worldwide launch on July 21, 2017. The game will be available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
