Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain reaches 5 Million Units Sold

Konami have announced that their flagship franchise, Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain have reached a total of 5 Million units sold since its release in early September. This inaugurates it in the best selling category and another title is added to the 5 Million club which includes games like The Witcher 3, GTA V, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and Batman: Arkham Knight.

Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain reached number 3 in the latest NPD’s for last month, being beaten out by games like Madden. The game was shrouded in controversy since the game’s original creator was fired by Konami, then rehired, then fired, then they pretended the whole thing didn’t happen with a going away party. Hideo Kojima is currently still listed as employed by Konami.

Konami also released PES 2016, but that failed to chart against more successful franchises like Fifa.
