Greenberg: Microsoft Will Release Even More Xbox One Games Next Year Than In 2015

Xbox One owners are certainly ending the year 2015 with a bang. The console’s holiday 2015 lineup arguably began with Rare Replay in August followed by Forza Motorsport 6 and just this week, Halo 5: Guardians found its way into many consoles. Next month Xbox One owners will be the first to play Rise of the Tomb Raider. It is an impressive list of games by any objective standard and it looks like 2016 will be an even wilder ride.

In a conversation with the team over at Kinda Funny Games, Greenberg hinted at upcoming games that have not yet been revealed. “We expect to sell more games next year and we have more game titles releasing next year than we do this year. If you start to look at that list of things that are coming, we have Quantum Breakin April, Killer Instinct Season 3, Recore, Scalebound, Crackdown,Sea of Thieves, Halo Wars 2 and Gears of War 4 and probably some [games] we haven’t announced,” he said.

The massive success Sony has enjoyed with the PlayStation 4 often causes the media to overlook the fact that the Xbox One is actually outpacing its predecessor. Greenberg addressed this when he said, “We’re actually widening that gap. As we rate ourselves against ourselves, we’re doing very well. We’re also selling more more games than we sold last-gen. We’re seeing the console market being extremely healthy. If you look at the games lineup this year and you look at the games lineup next year, Halo will sell a lot of consoles, Gears will sell a lot of consoles, so for us it’s been really healthy.”
