When it comes to indies on the next generation consoles, one can’t help but think developers are out to syphon money from consumers with games that rarely hit the spot. FuturLab released their latest and greatest title Velocity 2X on PlayStation late last year. I was fortunate enough to have played this amazing title and have secretly been dying to get my hands on it since. FutureLab certainly breaks the mould of lacklustre indie game titles and gives us a game worth playing at $20. Ever since Microsoft and Phil Spencer alleviated the apparent ‘fears’ of some mythical parity clause, Independent developers are starting to port their titles to Xbox at an increasing clip.
Velocity 2X is a side scrolling/overhead action title that has you conquer levels and collect survivors from the clutches of an evil villain. The game is fast paced and in some cases very challenging. There is no voice acting in the last version I played, but there is an intricate story you can follow during gameplay. This game reminds me of the good old days of Arcade games like Battletoads. It will have you spend hours attempting to get 100% completion.
The game will launch on Xbox One on the 18th of August and we’ll have our take on this amazing Indie game in the coming week.
