The Nun Scares Away the Competition at the Box Office

It looks like The Nun scared away all the competition from the box office over the weekend. The movie grossed an easy $53.5 million domestically. The Nun did just as well outside of the United States, grossing a total of $77 million in the foreign market. Right now this horror movie is sitting at $131 million worldwide in the first weekend. Check out our review for the film here.

The Nun was not the only movie that came out this weekend. Peppermint opened with a solid $13.2 million. It grossed about half of the movie’s budget in the first weekend. This movie has plenty of room to grow with the minimal competition at the box office right now. Right now Mission Impossible: Fallout looks like it will knock Deadpool 2 out of the top five grossing movies for 2018. This is also the highest grossing Tom Cruise film ever with $726.6 million in ticket sales.

Weekend Top Five

5. Searching $4.5 million

4. The Meg $6 million

3. Peppermint $13.2 million

2. Crazy Rich Asians $13.6 million

1. The Nun $53.5 million

Next weekend look for A Simple Favor and The Predator to come out at your local theatre. After the poor reviews for The Predator I still think The Nun will continue to stay on top for a second weekend. We are also a little under a month away from for a movie I have been waiting for since I was a kid, Venom. I even begged a little for a Venom game from the developers of the Spider-Man game.
