In preparation for the game’s July 21st release date, Nintendo is hosting a Splatoon 2 Splatfest demo later this week. The event will take place this Saturday, July 15th. It will last from 15:00 to 19:00 (PDT) in North America. The time for Europe is 17:00 to 21:00 (BST). In Japan, players will be waging war from 17:00 to 21:00 (JST).
In both Europe and North America, the theme will be “cake versus ice cream.” Meanwhile, the factions in Japan will be rock and pop. During these battles, participants will be able to try out the new Splat Dualies and Tentatek Splattershot weapons. The Splat Roller and Splat Charger will also be available with the game’s new modifications.
Assuming it is like the Splatfests of the original title, the contest will consist of a series of Turf War matches. Players will compete in groups of four to cover as much land as possible in their team’s ink. While killing opponents is not the main objective, temporarily taking them out of the fight can give a team the advantage they need to win. After the event ends, we will learn which faction was more popular as well as which side had more wins.
The demo is already available for download and players can customize their character and choose their team before the battles begin. It also offers a chance to get acquainted with the controls and hub.
