NPD: Xbox One Beats PS4 According To N.P.D With Sales Up 81%

The October NPD numbers have been released and it’s a blockbuster month for both the Xbox One and Halo. Halo 5: Guardians launched last month and broke several records, including it’s sales record for the franchise with over $400 Million in it’s first week.

“The strength of the greatest games line-up in Xbox history drove record Xbox Live usage for October and made Xbox One the best-selling console in the U.S. with 81 percent growth compared to October 2014,” – Mike Nichols (Xbox Marketing VP)

Microsoft managed to win a second October month after they dominated the previous holiday as well. Sales in total are up 81% for the year according to Microsoft and it’s all thanks to the biggest games line-up. Xbox Live usage is up as well, and that’s a good thing since Microsoft is now using that as a measuring stick to see how well the Xbox division is faring instead of sales.

When it comes to games, Halo 5: Guardians topped the list for physical sales after it became the best selling digital game on Xbox Live in history. Assassins Creed debuts at number 3 with NBA 2K16 taking the second place.

Best Selling Games for October:

  1. Halo 5: Guardians
  2. NBA 2K16
  3. Assassin’s Creed Syndicate
  4. Madden NFL 16
  5. WWE 2K16
  6. FIFA 16
  7. Destiny: The Taken King
  8. Yoshi’s Woolly World
  9. Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection
  10. Rock Band 4

With Fallout 4 and Rise of the Tomb Raider releasing in the November calendar month, it will be interesting to see if Xbox can keep this momentum going forward. Even though their nearest competitor slashed the price of their console, Microsoft still managed to rake in a win.
