The launch trailer for “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain” has been released, and it is a very emotional trailer. It starts off with a brief montage of the past games in the series before transitioning into scenes from the new game. The video ends with a clip of one of the game’s new, giant metal gear robots in action.
Not only does this trailer evoke a sense of this being the end of the series (for now), but it is also series creator, Hideo Kojima’s goodbye to both the series and fans. Kojima will be departing Konami once the game launches. The news was met with much public anger, and it doesn’t appear that Kojima will get to work on the Metal Gear series ever again.
“Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain” is currently gaining mass critical acclaim, with it currently having a 95 on Metacritic (although it’s important to remember that these reviews all stem from a review event). If this keeps up, then it’ll become the best reviewed game of the year, beating The Witcher 3 which currently has a 94 on Metacritic.
“Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain” launches September 1st on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PC.
