EA is giving Xbox Live Gold members a chance to play the newest PGA Tour game. If you have a current Xbox Live Gold account, why not give this a try? The game can easily be found in the featured Gold tab where it says, “Try PGA Tour free with Gold” (although in some regions the trial can apparently only be found on Xbox.com). You will be able to play the full game for 10 hours unless you happen to have played the pre-release trial through EA Access. This is a great time to check out the newest entry of the PGA Tour series and decide if you want to buy it or not.
Rory McIlroy PGA Tour uses the Frostbite 3 engine, which reduces load times because it loads the whole course at once. It looks beautiful, but sometimes textures and environments that are outside of the course pop in and out as the ball flies through the air. With the whole course open now, it’s possible to hit the ball too high and have the wind take it to a different hole.
Even though features and game modes have been removed in this installment, some new ones were added, like the Night Club Challenge, which has players aiming to hit their balls through a neon colored ring in the air and score points. Also, “EA SPORTS Rory McIlroy PGA Tour” is on sale this week for Xbox Live Gold members, and remember if you are a member of EA Access, you get another 10% off of all EA games and DLC.
