Avatar: The Last Airbender along with The Legend of Korra animated series was a breath of fresh air, unlike its original live action counterpart The Last Airbender that released back in 2010. Fans and media alike didn’t feel the film as a whole truly captured the characters to the fullest. Now 8 years later it seems like Netflix is gonna try again.

An Avatar: The Last Airbender live action series is currently being developed and the creators of the series Bryan Konietzko and Michael DiMartino, seem really optimistic this time around. Bryan and Michael said this time around it will be “culturally appropriate”.

They also go on to say: “We can’t wait to realize Aang’s world as cinematically as we always imagined it to be, and with a culturally appropriate, non-whitewashed cast. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance to build upon everyone’s great work on the original animated series and go even deeper into the characters, story, action and world-building. Netflix is wholly dedicated to manifesting our vision for this retelling, and we’re incredibly grateful to be partnering with them.”

So hopefully with the two creators at the helm this time around we all can get the Avatar series that we deserve.
