It’s always welcome whenever an indie developer develops titles for consoles widely considered to be “dead” at this point in time. We’ve previously looked at upcoming titles such as Socks the Cat Rocks the Hill and Coffee Crisis, which are aiming to be released on the Super Nintendo and SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive, respectively. Now, we’ll be looking at a game that’s available on the latter, SEGA Dreamcast, and Game Boy! This is Escape 2042, an action-platformer by Orionsoft. You can view the trailer for it below:
The official description for the trailer consists of the following:
Discover a futuristic fast-paced platformer game in pixel art, which includes 2 mini-games, and developed for the Megadrive/Genesis, Gameboy and Dreamcast consoles, also available for PC on Steam.
The game takes place in three different environments (prison, desert, forest) and is interspersed with 2 mini-games, including a reversed “Shoot’em Up” and an original rappelling game! Avoid the security cameras, collect grenades to get rid of your enemies, exercise your working memory by hacking the computers of the prison to unlock the doors or to disactivate the safety systems.
