I feel very foolish after initially doubting that YouTube’s Cobra Kai series would be a worthwhile successor to the original The Karate Kid franchise. Needless to say, the first season of the show turned out to be excellent and provided additional depth to the characters from the first film. YouTube has released a trailer for Cobra Kai season 2 and it looks stellar. You can watch the trailer for yourself below.

After the events of the first season the Cobra Kai dojo has surged to the top and has become a popular choice for young people wanting to learn martial arts. Daaniel LaRusso is worried about the growing influence of Johnny and the Cobra Kai and chooses to open his own dojo which embraces the teachings of his old mentor, Mr. Miyagi. Tensions quickly begin to build between students of the two dojos and even more so with Daniel and Johnny. In fact, the trailer is teasing a possible fight between these two characters which would be the first battle between them since that fateful tournament way back in 1984. As a special treat, it looks like Martin Kove will reprise his role as former Cobra Kai sensei John Kreese.

Cobra Kai season 2 begins on April 24th. You will need a subscription to YouTube Premium to watch it.
