Captain America: Civil War – Costume art revealed!

A new set of concept art for Captain America: Civil War has been tweeted out by actor Jeremy Renner (having previously leaked on comicbookmovie.com). These various images focus on the two sides in the movie, team Captain America and team Iron Man. Iron Man’s team consists of War Machine, Black Widow, Black Panther and Vision; while Cap’s team will include Ant-Man, Hawkeye, Sharon Carter, Falcon and Winter Soldier.

There are however two characters curiously missing from these images: Spider-Man and Scarlet Witch. We know both of these characters will be in the movie, but why aren’t they in these pictures? Are their roles not big enough to be in the promotional images? Or does Marvel just want to keep their costumes a secret for now? It is entirely possible that Spider-Man only has a smaller role in the movie, but Scarlet Witch is widely thought to be a greater presence. Indeed she has already been spotted on set filming various fight scenes.

Sharon Carter is also shown is these concept photos. She was not included in the team breakdown that leaked a few weeks ago. She seems to have some sort of tactical outfit on, which is different from anything she wore in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, as she was always shown in either normal clothes or her S.H.I.E.L.D outfit. The biggest costume change comes with Hawkeye, who is finally wearing a purple costume like he does in the comics. While Hawkeye’s iconic mask is still missing, this costume is just about as close of an adaptation as we can expect. We also know that Ant-Man will make an appearance in the film on Captain America’s side. Perhaps he is somewhere in the picture but just too small to see?

Captain America: Civil War is expected to be released on May 6, 2016.
