Marvel’s partnership with the streaming service Netflix has so far proved fruitful. Although still early days, their first effort Daredevil received considerable fan and critic acclaim, and did true justice to the character in a way that the 2003 movie couldn’t quite manage. So then, Netflix will be hoping from this triumph to spring board a raft of new Marvel properties starting with Jessica Jones, followed by Luke Cage and the eventually a second season of Daredevil. There will then eventually be a team up series entitled The Defenders.
Although Luke Cage is a long way off filming, Heroic Hollywood claim to have obtained not only the identity of the season’s villain but also an early plot synopsis too.
According to their sources the villain will be Diamondback. The synopsis covers the origin of both he and Cage, and a photo of Diamondback is linked below.
“Luke Cage is a former gang member who is framed for a crime. In prison, he volunteers for a medical experiment that goes awry, giving him super strength and bulletproof skin. Using his newfound powers, Cage escapes and becomes a hero for hire. His archenemy is Willy Stryker, a former childhood friend from Harlem. The two committed petty crimes together, and both fell for the same woman, Reva Connors, which led to their eventual falling out. It was Stryker who framed Cage for a drug deal that sent him to prison.”
Of course nothing is as yet confirmed but we will be seeing Luke Cage first this year in Jessica Jones. For more Marvel, movie, TV and gaming news stick right here on TiCGN!
