Well January wasn’t too great for all console players with the 8th Generation market declining in sales by 8% even with relative flat unit sales. NPD released the statement for the US last night.
In game sales, Call of Duty Black Ops 3 was the best selling game in the US. The game, along with Rainbow Six Siege and Star Wars: Battlefront sold most of their units on Xbox One during the month. NPD attributed the down turn due to no new games launching during the month, with the next blockbuster launching this month with Far Cry Primal from Ubisoft. The last exclusive title that launched was back in October with Rise of the Tomb Raider. NPD also reiterated the success of the Grand Theft Auto franchise, stating that it’s been in the Top 10 since launch in January 2014.
Microsoft released a statement saying “We can’t thank our fans enough for their continued support and passion for Xbox.”
