To answer your first question, no we have not traveled back in time to 2007. The year is indeed 2019 and we will be getting a rebooted Call of Duty Modern Warfare later this year. Youtuber LongSensation set Twitter on fire this morning with a single tweet.

This information was then further collaborated by Jason Schreier in an article on Kotaku. Apparently, Activision is looking to do a “soft reboot” of the Modern Warfare series. This generation has been filled with games finding a new identity while building on the skeletons of their past. The best example of this of course is Sony Santa Monica’s revival of the God of War franchise. While expecting that big of a comeback of Call of Duty might be setting goals to lofty, it is definitely intriguing to see Infinity Ward return to the Modern Warfare series. A series that is held in high regards by many long time fans. While we have nothing official at this time, with all the rumors lately it feels like an announcement has to be coming soon. We will be watching this story very closely in the coming weeks.
