Konami: The latest rumors about Silent Hill are not true

It has been nearly a decade since we have had a core Silent Hill game released so it is understandable that horror fans have been chompimg at the bit for a new installment of the beloved franchise. It certainly is not surprising that some pretty wacky rumors about the IP have been circulating lately. One of the crazier rumors going around was that Sony was trying to acquire the franchise for a generation of games.

The only problem is that none of the rumors are true accordimg to a Konami spokesperson. The fine folks over at Rely on Horror decided to polish their fangs and get right to the heart of the matter. They reached out to a spokesperson for Konami’s US operation and this was the response they received:

“We’re aware of all the rumors and reports but can confirm that they are not true. I know it’s not the answer your fans may want to hear.”

Interestingly enough, the story gets more interesting from here. The Rely on Horror folks pressed deeper – specifically about the Sony collaboration for new Silent Hill games. Konami became weirdly quiet at this point and never responded to the follow-up questions. C. Melendez of Rely on Horror says that Konami responded to their intial question within an hour so it is indeed odd that they would suddenly become so tight-lipped.
