Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus Announced

“A lady who is pregnant fucking stabbing a Nazi while a guy drops acid.”

This one line from Pete Hines really captures what we saw in the E3 trailer for the completely out-of-the-blue Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. Already given a release date for later this year, Wolfenstein II is going to take everything about the game’s classic ideas and turn it on its head.

From the trailer, this Wolfenstein title takes place in an alternate history America in which the Nazi’s either won the war or just managed to make a pretty spectacular comeback after World War II. Our main hero is a firefighter who is covertly fighting against the Nazis and tries to rally together different factions who are also displeased about the current government. There are a ton of explosions, a full panel of characters of all walks of life (sassy Black woman with an afro, half-robot comic relief, child with a rifle) and some ridiculous effects overall. We’re even introduced to Liesel, a fire-breathing robot horse-sized dog which you get to ride around and reign destruction from at some point. Also, as Pete himself points out, we do see someone under the influence of drugs, which makes for an interesting bedfellow for such a game.

Details are scarce at this point, but Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is playable immediately at E3. Bethesda has also confirmed that the game will release on October 27th of this year.
