Witcher 2 Backwards Compatitibility on the way, No Arena Feature for Witcher 3.

It appears that The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is coming to Xbox One via Backwards Compatibility. Players of the highly successful The Witcher 3, who have not yet played the games previous installments, took to the game’s developer, CD Projekt RED. Players asked about the possibility of the previous Witcher titles getting the “remastered” treatment. CD Projekt RED’s community manager stated that remasters are highly unlikely but Xbox One players will be able to experience The Witcher 2 through the consoles backwards compatibility feature.

CD Projeckt Red’s Marcin Momot has said no dates have been announced as of yet but there will be an official announcement once the release date is locked in. More details should be announced soon as this month more games are being added to Xbox One Backwards Compatibility.

Xbox One players will be able to access the Arena mode feature included in The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, but the mode will not be making a return in The Witcher 3. Though there are still plenty of enemies to take on and things to do in The Witcher 3.

December will also see The Witcher 3’s patch 1.12 which will be focused on bug fixes rather than including new features. New features are more likely to be included with the Blood and Wine expansion that is currently in the works from CD Projekt RED. The new expansion is due out in the first half of 2016 as no release date has been announced as of yet. The expansion will feature a new story, new characters, and new horse breeds.

Having critical acclaim and taking Game of the Year at this years Game Awards, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is now available on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC. You can look forward to seeing The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings coming to Xbox One Backwards Compatitiblity in possibly the near future.
