THQ, the old beloved company that fell into bankruptcy, will soon rise again. After Nordic Games acquired several THQ intellectual properties including Darksiders, Red Faction, and MX vs ATV, the company admitted more change would come. Now fulfilling that promise Nordic Games has stated that going forward the THQ legacy will be vitally important to the company. With the added roster of games in Nordic’s lineup, so did a branding shakeup. Nordic Games will be moving forward with the new title of THQ Nordic.
In an interview with Gamespot, Lars Wingefors the Chief Executive was quoted saying “While we take great pride in our Swedish roots and accomplished a great deal under the Nordic Games masthead, we decided it was time to incorporate the THQ name. Those key brands will continue to shape our business in a meaningful way going forward, and THQ Nordic represents a core approach of doing much more than owning a highly competitive portfolio of IP.” The THQ praise quickly hinted at a resurgence in old THQ titles as THQ Nordic quickly admitted that they have 23 games in development with 13 unannounced titles. Wingefors did not mention whether or not they were THQ games but with the amount of love that is going around for the old brand it wouldn’t be surprising if we see the return of games like Darksiders or Destroy All Humans.
