Tsutomu Sato’s light novel, The Irregular at Magic Highschool, will be getting a second season. The new season is slated to come out sometime in 2020. The first season made its debut way back in 2014 and consisted of 26 episodes. This is quite surprising since most fans of the series didn’t think another season would ever come. Along with the announcement of the new season, we also get a small trailer and new image that you can take a look at below.

If you are unfamiliar with the series, here is a brief synopsis from Crunchyroll: “Set in a world where magic exists but instead of using chants and spells, magic users cast spells with their Casting Assistant Device (CAD). The CAD is infused with the user’s Psions (a substance-less thought particle) that activates the device and constructs the magic ritual.”
At this time we do not have an official release date for the second season, but we will let you know as soon as more information is released.
