Star Wars news at last! Alden Ehrenreich has been confirmed as the actor to play a younger Han Solo in the upcoming prequel spin off film. Apparently Ehrenreich secured the part, over the heads of other actors such as Taron Egerton and Jack Reynor, with a stand out performance in the casting tests. Alden Ehrenreich was recently in the 50s Hollywood comedy Hail, Caeser! directed by the Coen brothers, Ethan and Joel.
Seemingly anticipating the announcement, director Chris Miller tweeted out a picture of Han Solo’s famous blaster for Star Wars celebration day May 4th. The Han Solo prequel movie will be directed by Chris Miller and Phil Lord of The Lego Movie fame.

The Han Solo standalone film will be part of what is fast becoming a new Star Wars Cinematic Universe. December’s upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which revolves around the tale of the Rebels that stole the plans for the Death Star, represents the first non-trilogy Star Wars film ever. As well as Rogue One and the Han Solo prequel fans can also look forward to a Boba Fett film which, despite behind the scenes trouble leading to the loss of its director, is tentatively scheduled for 2019. What do you think of this bit of casting? Who would you rather have had play Han Solo? Let us know in the comments below!
