The Escapists Celebrates Birthday With A Free Map

Games label Team17 and indie developer Mouldy Toof Studios are the team responsible for the much loved prison escape game The Escapists. The game is set to turn one year old tomorrow and to celebrate the team have announced a free birthday map, however it’s only available for some of the players of the game.

For those of you who play The Escapists on PC, Mac or Linux the free map (called Paris Central Pen) will be available via a Steam update on February 16th. Paris Central Pen is inspired by La Sente Prison in Paris, which once housed the infamous Carlos The Jackel and was known to be one of the most brutal prisons ever.

The Escapists is the brain child of Chris Davis, and the game was quickly signed by Team17 after the game’s Kickstarter campaign. The game was greenlit by the Steam community in just 96 hours and now features on Playstation 4 and Xbox One. The game has currently sold over 1.25 million copies to date, and has even been awarded a Mega Sales award from the ID@Xbox team.

The birthday map is set to release to the console editions at a later date, but until then check out this gallery of screenshots of Paris Central Pen below!
